George McClellan was commander in West Virginia and this battle was a Union Victory. It also caused the death of the first Confederate General of the war, General Robert Garnett. He was related to the other General Garnett who died in Picketts Charge.

On July 17th Joe and Deb Topinka received their certificates and training from the National Artillery Association, at the 1861 battle of Laurel Hill,W.V. Unlike the original battle where George Mcclellan dominated the field of battle, the reb's dominated the field. The battle needs more Union support.
Most Northern members that were there were from Western and Central Pa.
